Larking around London - Day One

We started our trip off visiting Kings Cross Station in the hope of jumping aboard the Hogwarts Express. Found the Platform alright, but alas the brick really was just brick. As there was no flying car on hand we decided to sight see around London instead and get to Hogwarts later!

We set off for Notting Hill feeling rather excited as we had watched the film just a few days before. Portobello Road was absolutely beautiful and was chock full of lovely stalls with antiques, tea pots, clothes, food and lots of exciting nonsense for us to browse. We took a million photos and shopped up a storm (not thinking about the impact on our bank accounts or how on earth we were actually going to get the stuff we bought back home. The streets were colourful and quaint, with lots of lovely people who were happy to tell stories and haggle over their wares.

We found the Notting Hill Bookshop (not the one from the movie though!) and took many pictures with blue doors, hoping that it’d be the one from the film. Apparently the actual door was sold as the owners god fed up with people knocking on their door round the clock. It’s just a black little door now off in a little side street.

I ate spinach and ricotta burek from a street stall for lunch (HEAVEN) and we trotted about all afternoon feeling very pleased with ourselves and the lovely sunshine! We went to a lovely little restaurant for dinner where I had a tasty pita pocket and MASH, glorious mash! NOTE: The next few posts will be partially about what I did but also about the FABULOUS things I ate as all Spain really offers in the food variety is ham and cheese sandwiches. I probably put on about 10 kilos that week but it was certainly worth it!!

More soon! XOXOX
